Martial arts party entertainers and corporate workshop specialists.
Capoeira Communities provide high energy workshops in capoeira and use musical instruments to create a cultural experiential space that inspire people, which in turn, nurtures self-esteem.
Capoeira itself is a Brazilian art form, a cultural activity, which combines specific elements of playing specific musical instruments, singing and acrobatic movements in groups of people. These are all elements of a unique “game”: it is simple on the surface yet has very positive, powerful, subtle effects on the sense of self, while exploring the experience and value of being in a group of people.
Capoeira constantly inspires people to improve their self-esteem and quality of life for themselves and their communities. It is used in Brazil for the rehabilitation of street children into society. It has caught on in Germany within the social services for similar purposes.
Practicing Capoeira takes us all beyond what we predict is possible with our own bodies. As we surpass our perceived limitations, we feel a subtle change in our sense of self. This creates self-confidence and well-being within a fun, non-competitive environment.
Capoeira Communities are pioneering Capoeira in the UK, by working with disadvantaged adults and local young people, and focus to the needs of people with the greatest disadvantage, whether that disadvantage is physical, mental, financial or social. Our total focus is on bringing about social change within the communities with whom we will be working. The main activity is teaching Capoeira, consisting of a mix of educational, physical and musical elements. Capoeira Communities' efforts so far are recognised and promoted by Arts Council East.
Capoeira Communities are an outreach organisation of professional Capoeira teachers, who teach any members of the public under other organisation or institutions. Capoeira Communities put professional Capoeira teachers with you and your group in the form of workshops, demonstrations, seminars and follow-up projects, with passion! Workshops can be arranged to suit your needs. Capoeira Communities also teach other Brazilian cultural arts such as Samba, Maculele, as well as Capoeira taught in Portuguese or Spanish.
